Solar Observing and Eclipse Special!

We are just a couple of months away from the most exciting astronomical event in recent history - a total solar eclipse right in our own backyard. Join us as we safely take a look at the sun through a variety of telescopes.

BAS members detail first-had experience and preparation for an eclipse. Topics of discussion will be:

-what to expect
-what NOT to do
-where to go
-how to photograph the eclipse
-how to video the eclipse

The party starts at 4:00 pm and should last until 11 or so (we'll stay as long as people want to look into our telescopes or the Rangers kick us out ;)

In the event of inclement weather we will have a program in the Rec Hall starting at 9:00 pm.

This event is FREE and everyone is welcome!

From TN HWY 153, take TN HWY 58 North towards Decatur, TN. Travel 8.3 miles to Harrison Bay Road; turn left. There is a pretty big sign for the park. On Harrison Bay Road, travel approximately 1.5 miles to the main park entrance on the left - turn left. Stay to the right at the fork in the road and continue about 0.5 miles. Parking will be available around the Recreation Hall.

The observation field will be in the large parking area next to the Recreation Hall. Come and enjoy the sky!
