FINAL UPDATE 7/8/23 4:30 pm: Well folks, we hate to do this, but we have had a high-level meeting and looked into all of our crystal balls, and it looks like things are not going to work out for us tonight. So, we are cancelling the Star Party at Harrison Bay for tonight 😌. Hopefully we can reach folks before they make the trip for nothing. Summertime can be tough, and we are just in a bad weather pattern. We will try again for August 12. Hang in there – things will go our way eventually!
UPDATE 7/8/23 1:00 pm: OK folks, this is another one of those situations that just makes us crazy! There are storms to the west heading this way and will be impacting us during the mid-afternoon hours. Right now, our main stargazing conditions app (hereafter referred to as the “crystal ball”) is not looking too good. However, we are over 6 hours out and a lot may change. We will post another update between 4:00 and 5:00 pm when we see how the pattern shakes out this afternoon. We’re doing our best, but this is often the way it goes in the summertime.
Come join the BAS for our monthly Star Party at Harrison Bay State Park. We will be setting up in the Recreation Hall parking lot. We will have a variety of telescopes and observing opportunities.
Please understand that these events are entirely at the mercy of the weather, over which we have little control. We will post updates on Saturday afternoon with information and whether or not we may have to cancel.
