Gathering: 6:00 pm
Business Meeting: 6:30 pm
Program: 7:00 pm
July Program: “The Last Seven Miles: Seeing, Transparency, and What to Do About It” by BAS member Richard Clements. Understanding Earth’s atmosphere and how it affects what you can see through the telescope. Will also include information on decoding the cloud cover, seeing, and transparency information in the Astrospheric app. This is part of the Beginner Observing Basics (BOB) presentation series.
The Clarence Jones Observatory is off of Brainerd Road behind Brainerd Methodist Church. Map apps will put it on Tuxedo Ave, but that is not really the best way in. The best way is to turn into the Brainerd Methodist Church parking lot and go up the hill to the upper lot and park there. Then walk up the short roadway by the cemetery (don’t worry, they’re friendly folks) to the back entrance of the observatory on the left. Can’t miss the brand-new concrete ramp into the building!
All are welcome to attend!
