Clarence T. Jones Observatory

BAS Monthly Meeting are held at the Clarence T. Jones Observatory. Please do not use “10 Tuxedo Ave” as the address for the Observatory!  Use these directions and look at the map at the bottom of this page.  If you want to use GPS for directions, base it off Brainerd United Methodist Church – the Observatory and parking are located behind it.

Directions from North Chattanooga

1. Heading south on Veterans Bridge, continue onto Georgia Avenue until reaching McCallie Avenue.
2. Turn left onto McCallie Avenue and drive 2.6 miles until reaching the Dodds Avenue Overpass.
3. Turn left onto the Dodds Avenue Overpass and continue onto McCallie Ave.
4. Continue Driving as McCallie Ave will lead into Brainerd Road.
5. Turn left into parking lot of Brainerd (United Methodist) Church.
6. Go to the upper parking lot and park.
7. Walk up the small road to the cemetary; the back door of the observatory is on the left.

Directions from I-24 / HWY 27

1. Head North on I-24 East toward Exit 1782. Take exit 183 for Germantown Road toward Belvoir Avenue
2. Turn left onto South Germantown Road
3. Turn right onto Brainerd Road
4. Turn left into parking lot of Brainerd (United Methodist) Church.
5. Go to the upper parking lot and park.
6. Walk up the small road to the cemetary; the back door of the observatory is on the left.

Directions from 153 / Shallowford Road

1. Head west on Shallowford Road toward Stein Drive.
2. Turn left onto the TN 153 South ramp and prepare to merge..
3. Take exit 1 for US-11/US-64/Lee Highway, and turn right
4. Turn right into parking lot of Brainerd (United Methodist) Church.
5. Go to the upper parking lot and park.
6. Walk up the small road to the cemetary; the back door of the observatory is on the left.
