Come join the BAS for our monthly meeting and program at the historic Clarence T. Jones Observatory!
Gathering: 6:00 pm
Business Meeting: 6:30 pm
Program: Starwalk: A BAS Outreach Initiative
Dr. Richard Clements, BAS Past President (2012-2017)
In the fall of 2014, the BAS began consideration of a new, permanent public outreach installation based on the Starwalk installation in Grossmugl, Austria. In collaboration with Project Nightflight of Vienna, Austria, a group of BAS members embarked on the establishment of our own Starwalk at Harrison Bay State Park. Seven years ago this week the Starwalk at Harrison Bay was officially dedicated. Join the BAS as we take a look back at the inspiration, process, and final result of this major BAS contribution to astronomical outreach in Chattanooga.
Attend virtually at spaceforeverybody/baschattanooga – Whereby
The Clarence Jones Observatory is off of Brainerd Road behind Brainerd Methodist Church. Map apps will put it on Tuxedo Ave, but that is not really the best way in. The best way is to turn into the Brainerd Methodist Church parking lot and go up the hill to the upper lot and park there. Then walk up the short roadway by the cemetery (don’t worry, they’re friendly folks) to the back entrance of the observatory on the left. Can’t miss the brand-new concrete ramp into the building!
All are welcome to attend!
