BAS monthly meetings are currently held on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 6:30 PM at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) Clarence T. Jones Observatory (CTJO) located just off of Brainerd Road.

BAS public star parties are typically held at the disc golf course parking area at Cloudland Canyon State Park in Rising Fawn, GA (link to map) and at the parking area adjacent to the Rec Hall at Harrison Bay State Park in Harrison, TN (link to map). The Star Walk sponsored by the BAS is also located at Harrison Bay State Park.

UTC Clarence T. Jones Observatory

  1. Turn into the parking lot of Brainerd Road (Brainard United Methodist Church)

  2. Go to the upper parking lot and park

  3. Walk up the narrow, paved road to the left of the cemetery (the back door of the observatory is on the left through the chain-link gate)

Important Note: Please do not use “10 Tuxedo Avenue” as the address for the observatory! If you want to use GPS for directions, base it off Brainerd United Methodist Church (link to map) as the observatory and parking are located on the hill behind the church. The gated entrance from Tuxedo Avenue is typically locked and inaccessible for access to the observatory.
