The BAS Today

The Barnard Astronomical Society (BAS) functions today by the principles and motivational examples bequeathed by the giant shoulders of so many past BAS members that we currently stand upon. The BAS even awards the Llewellyn Evans Award for those within the society whose contributions have given of themselves to put forth the cause of amateur astronomy education and outreach, and the building of telescopes.

Our members are highly active in conducting public events and awareness seminars about astronomy, protecting our dark skies, telescope use, and astrophotography. We also continue to be stewards of the Clarence T. Jones Observatory and volunteer at the Sunday evening UTC star parties at the facility.
